| A home that “clicks” effortlessly blends design elements to tell a style story, and how you accessorize shows a lot about your unique personality.
I search for the unusual as a way to express my style. One of those wild finds turned into a very useful object. That, to me, is an environmentally friendly way to live – recycle, revive, renew.
While traveling in Wisconsin I stopped at an antiques store and found one of my favorite “wild finds” that became a favorite project success. Hidden against a back wall I discovered two wrought iron gates and fell in love. My immediate thought was that they might work as headboards for two twin beds I planned for a guest room. I bought them on faith, without really knowing twin bed sizes! I was pleasantly surprised to find they were within 1/8” of perfection.
To create the headboards I had each gate welded to a regular twin bed frame, thus enabling them to stand above the mattress and box spring. Then had the frame bolt to the twin bed frames, thanks to a couple of well placed wholes. The gate frames were then painted white to blend with the antique white of the gates.
The two unique and special headboards from a region of the country I love made my $40 investment well worth it. Not to mention added a very unique touch for guests to enjoy.
