What is Haute Green?
Environmental, “green” products are a haute area in the home and design industry. Green-seeking consumers are finding everything from bamboo floors to old tires converted to pavers, and the array of items is growing daily.

How does the “green” movement translate to accessories? How do you blend those eco-friendly elements into what you already have without simply starting all over and discarding all your possessions? (Which, by the way, is VERY anti-green!)

There were numerous decorative accessories I found while attending the Dallas Gift Market that offer design blending options for anyone wanting to introduce a bit of “green” to their environment. These decorative elements offered great options for the ultra contemporary to the shabby chic.

The great home accessories offered by Roost Home Furnishings were outstanding examples of utilizing natural elements in much of what they featured. From seed layered balls to a chair created from driftwood, everything offered was unique and recycled. A favorite for the holidays featured a collection of trees made of birch shavings, and what is sure to be a Texas favorite – hand-carved deer that command the table! Their elegance and simplicity blend with any design idea – even in the middle of the city!

Others who offered a variety of natural elements and created great home statements include Two’s Company and CBK. Look to your favorite retailer to feature these items this fall.

For the kitchen, I also loved these new eco-friendly bamboo/cotton kitchen towels available in seven great colors from Red & White Kitchen Company. You can check out all of their websites to find more products and information, as well as where these products are sold in your area.

Oh, and I’d also consider an environmentally friendly way to clean your home as well. I recently found Howard Naturals for granite and cabinets. Check our Haute Resources page for listing details.
